Books and Coffee in Saugerties: Inquiring Minds
Inquiring Minds Bookstore and Coffee House sells new books alongside used books, has a super kids section as well as a giant grown-up selection, and pours notably delicious coffee, tea, and lemonade. When it’s too cold or too hot or too rainy to enjoy the outdoors, this Saugerties book shop can really save the day.
The Catskills are filled with fun and varied book-browsing destinations (Spotty Dog in Hudson, Briars & Brambles in Windham, Little Red Book Shack in Livingston, and Hobart Book Village — to name a few), but Inquiring Minds is particularly great if you want to grab a coffee or cold drink and hang around for a while.
The used books are mixed in with the new books here, so you can take your pick between, say, a streamlined and modernized Nancy Drew mystery or an old-fashioned, yellow-spined hardcover.
Seating isn’t incredibly extensive here, but there are a couple of sofas and upholstered chairs, a checkerboard table for two near the kids’ section, and a laptop-friendly table near the cookbooks.
Bonus: The espresso drinks are really good! They’ve got hot and iced versions, all the milks on hand (cow, oat, soy, almond), hot chocolate, tea, and lemonade.
Their Dog Hall of Fame is fun, too. Cannoli, Alfonso, Babka—the gang’s all here!
